If you want to start a career as a property manager then this course is the starting point. 

Once you have completed the course and registered with DMIRS (the industry regulator in WA) you can then commence your career in either residential or commercial property management.

This course is for anyone wanting to start a career as a property manager.

Whether you want to work in residential or commercial it all starts here.

This course will give you the educational requirement to register as a property manager (a restricted registration) with the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS - the real estate industry regulator).

When working in real estate you will need to:

  • Keep up with the latest industry trends and legislation. 
  • Use technology.
  • Maintain industry currency by reading real estate bulletins and newsletters.
  • Write emails, letters, and reports to your clients. 
  • Maintain regular verbal communication with clients.
  • Build rapport with existing and prospective clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients. 
  • Negotiate with clients on operational issues.

You will learn about appraising, listing, marketing, leasing and managing residential property together with the legal and ethical requirements when working as a property manager.

These nationally recognised units of competency are covered in the course and comprise a partial completion of CPP40307 Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate) CPP40307:
  • CPPDSM4080A Work in the real estate industry
  • CPPDSM4007A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property management to complete agency work
  • CPPDSM4011A List property for lease
  • CPPDSM4013A Market property for lease
  • CPPDSM4010A Lease property
  • CPPDSM4016A Monitor and manage lease or tenancy agreement.

To enrol in this course you must:
  • be over the age of 18 (or will reach the age of 18 before completion of the course)
  • be computer literate*
  • have numeracy skills*
  • have a high standard of verbal and written English* (you will have to understand and complete legal contracts and other documentation)
  • be a Western Australian (WA) resident with the authorisation to study in WA.
*You will be required to complete the first unit CPPDSM4080A Work in the real estate industry before moving on to the other units. Satisfactory completion of this unit will help ensure your language, literacy and computer skills are suited to the workplace requirements of a real estate sales representative.

Four consecutive days in the classroom; Monday to Thursday | 8.30am-4.30pm

Whether you select to attend the classroom or study online, you will have four months from the enrolment date to undertake study, research and complete your assessments.   

The flexibility of our course structure means that you could be completed much sooner if you have the time to invest in your studies. 

We encourage you to commit to a study schedule which suits your personal and professional commitments, and take full advantage of the support services available to you.


Four consecutive working days in the classroom | 8.30am-5pm  

In class you will learn key concepts and be assisted to apply this knowledge through practical activities. Following the classroom component, you will be given access to a eLearning portal containing digital resources (such as eLearning modules, student workbooks, model answers, case studies, sample documents and helpful links), to support you in completing your assessment.  

Note: You will have up to four months to submit your assessments.


If your learning style isn't suited to a classroom or doesn't fit your schedule, the online option is for you. 

You will be able to start straight away and work through at your own pace (within your enrolment timeframe). You will still have access to trainers through our webinars and our support team are only a phone call or email away.   

All students receive access to our eLearning portal which provides you with a suite of resources including elearning modules, 
student workbooks, activities and model answers, case studies, sample documents and links to valuable resources.

CPP40307 Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate) has been superseded to a new qualification, however, this registration course still meets the educational requirement to apply for registration in Western Australia.

Full payment of course fee is required, for all Registration and CPD courses, before you can be enrolled into a class or gain access to course learning materials. 

We run this course in our modern training centre with access to a full student support team as well as trainers and assessors. For those who prefer to study online, the team is on hand at the end of the phone or by email to help support you through your training.

You will be given access to an online student resource portal, with examples of completed forms, documents and links to other online resources that will help you in your studies.  

We run regular webinar sessions to help you make contact with other students and with trainers to focus on specific aspects of the training course, such as document completion and interpretation of the legislation.

We offer monthly assessment support sessions where you can work on your assessments with a trainer on hand to answer your questions and direct you through the course resources.

The course consists of five parts. 

Part one is an eLearning module which includes an online assessment that must be passed (within three attempts), before you can proceed to the other parts.

Parts two to five, include a workbook that covers the course content and allows you to apply your learning by completing activities that will assist you with the assessment. 

You will also receive access to elearning modules, sample documents, case studies and links to useful information and legislation. 

Each part requires the completion of an assessment that must be uploaded via the elearning portal and includes the completion of contracts and forms. 

You will be allocated an assessor who will mark your assessments and provide feedback for resubmission where required.

How does assessment work?

Once you have been deemed competent, you will be given a Statement of Attainment showing the 7 units of competency achieved. We will advise the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) that you have achieved this award at the same time as issue of the Statement.

Note: upon successful completion, Statement of Attainment will be issued within 30 calendar days.

You will have only until 30 September 2021 to apply for registration with the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) and we recommend that you allow adequate time to both apply and receive a response from DMIRS.

Remember to take into consideration that you will require a police clearance which is less than three months old.

What is a Statement of Attainment?
How do I register with the DMIRS?

Once you have received your Statement of Attainment you can then apply for your certificate of registration with DMIRS. Visit the DMIRS website to find out more about this process
